The Greenbriar Civic Association is a non-profit corporation formed by the community’s first hundred residents in the spring of 1968. Originally drawn together by the common problems of new homeowners, GCA member have seen their organization grow to meet many community needs and to offer numerous services.
The GCA fosters the growth of a community spirit and sense of identity. Also, our common interests are better represented at the county and state levels when one strong organization speaks for all.
The GCA is composed entirely of Greenbriar residents working as volunteers.

The GCA also advocates or provides funding for:
- Greenbriar park upgrades
- Beautification of the Greenbriar entrances
- Traffic calming issues
- Improvements to the community center
- Fairfax police liaison on crime issues
The Greenbriar Civic Association is run by a board comprised of 12 District Representatives that coordinate the efforts of approximately 179 block captains. Each block captain services an average of 10-13 residences in their district. (See the map of Greenbriar districts). The GCA BOARD nominations and election are held annually at the Cale Community Center. Advance notice of nominees are posted in the Greenbriar Flyer well ahead of time to review and comment. All Greenbriar residents are eligible to be nominated for board positions
The GCA board meetings are held the first Tuesday of each month at 7:30 pm at the Cale Community Center. They are open with all residents invited to attend. Minutes of the meeting are subsequently published in the following month’s edition of The Greenbriar Flyer.

The Greenbriar Civic Association is a NON PROFIT association funded through voluntary annual donations from residents. Contributions of $25 are requested during our annual fundraising drive in the fall of each year.
GCA functions and activities are governed by the Bylaws.
