December and January are full of opportunities for celebrations and parties, including some festive fun at the Cale Community Center. Come out on December 13 to meet new neighbors, see old friends, share some cookies and tell Santa how good the residents of Greenbriar have been all year! Check the flyer on page 1 for all the details. And don’t forget your camera.
In all the winter fun, please don’t forget to be safe. As the public service announcements and tips become available, we will share them on www.greenbriarfairfax.nextdoor.com. Look for information about driving in bad weather (don’t do it unless you really, really have to), what winter supplies to keep in your vehicle if you do head out, ideas to keep your home safe if you are away on travel, New Year’s Eve sober ride programs, and more.
Greenbriar is in pretty good shape heading into the winter season. Some of our roads are freshly paved, the sinkholes are fixed, and many potholes are patched — until the plows come!
The long-term forecast for the 2016-2017 winter isn’t calling for too much snow. I’d like to believe that, but I’m still going to be checking the Greenbriar Flyer classifieds and our Nextdoor Greenbriar Web page for helpful community members who are available to shovel and plow. In years past, there have always been kind neighbors ready to do the job for a reasonable price. It won’t be me … I’ll be under a pile of blankets thinking summer thoughts.
Enjoy the season, do something helpful for those in need if you can, go inside when your nose turns red, and don’t forget your mittens!
Warm wishes for very happy holidays, Greenbriar.
